The Academy of Modern Shamanism Terms & Conditions

This agreement is between you and The Academy of Modern Shamanism Ltd (Company number: 11473342).

In these terms and conditions: ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ means the Academy of Modern Shamanism Ltd (‘AMS’ hereinafter) a business whose head office address is currently situated at Riverbank House, 1 Putney Bridge Approach, London SW6 3JD; ‘you’ means you, the participant.

The Contract

1. By requesting that we provide services to you, you agree that the provision of any services to you by us, will be subject to these terms and conditions (the Contract).

2. The Contract shall be deemed to have commenced when we receive your booking and first payment (Commencement Date).

3. The Contract constitutes the entire agreement between the parties. You acknowledge that you have not relied on any statement, promise or representation made or given by or on our behalf which is not set out in the Contract.

4. These conditions apply to the Contract to the exclusion of any other terms that you seek to impose or incorporate, or which are implied by trade, custom, practice or course of dealing.

The training courses, workshops and retreats offered by AMS are intensive journeys of learning and transformation. In order to receive the full benefit, participants must be committed to the process and take responsibility for their own well-being. The following policies are intended to assist with a successful experience and for clarity in all financial arrangements.

Booking Terms & Agreements:

Registration: Registration will be considered complete when your first payment is received.
All deposits are non-refundable. Where not otherwise stated, the deposit is 50% of course fees.
Payments: All fees are due 30 days before the start of the training, module or workshop, unless a different payment plan has been agreed in writing by both parties.
Accommodation & catering costs: for onsite in-person trainings, accommodation & catering costs are in addition to course fees. Unless stated otherwise, accommodation requires a 50% deposit of the total cost of the room at time of booking. This deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations received 30 days or more before the start of the class forfeit the deposit. Date changes are permitted with a £300 accommodation transfer fee, if possible. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received 29 days or less prior to the scheduled event. Notice of cancellation must be sent to info@themodernshamanacademy.com
Postponed classes: In the remote circumstance that minimum class or event sizes are not reached, such events will be re-scheduled and all associated deposits or additional payments will remain in good standing.
Cancellation Policy: If you wish to withdraw from a training, module or workshop, you must send a written withdrawal letter to info@themodernshamanacadmy.com at least 30 days before the commencement date. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received 29 days or less prior to the event or start of the training.
Cancellation Fees: If you wish to cancel the whole training before it commences, a fee the cancellation fee is 10% of the course fee with 30 days notice and 20% of the course fee with 29 days or less notice. Once a course has commenced, a cancellation fee of 50% of the cost of the full course, workshop or class will apply for all cancellations received with at least 30 days notice of the next module commencing, in writing to info@themodernshamanacademy.com. Once you have received the online teaching material for a module, course or workshop, even if you do not attend the live class, for whatever reason, the fee for that training cannot be refunded.
Transferring fees: If you wish to delay the whole training and apply your payment to a future course or module, a Transfer Fee of £250 will be charged for cancellations received 30 days before the course/next module start date, or £300 for this received 29 days or less before the course/next module commences, or if it is already in progress. If you wish to postpone a single module, the transfer fee is £100. If the cancellation is received 29 days or less before that module commences starts, a £150 Transfer Fee will be applied. For short courses and workshops, the transfer fee is 10% of the course fee with 30 days notice and 20% of the course fee with 29 days or less notice. All payment transfers are valid for two years. Notice of all cancellations and transfers must be sent to info@academyofmodernshamanism.com
Private teaching sessions for missed group sessions: If you cannot attend a weekend live Group Zoom Session, you agree to notify AMS at least 30 days in advance when possible. You can catch up with a private supervised mentoring session, which will count towards your accreditation (for an additional fee, charged at the current rate).
Liability: You complete this course at your own risk. We do not accept any liability for any expenses beyond our control. Although AMS will do everything possible to hold training courses, classes, workshops and retreats as scheduled, cancellations may occur for reasons beyond our control. Such cancellations may be the result of acts of God or force majeure (including, but not limited to: earthquakes, volcanoes, severe storms, hurricanes, floods, fires, pandemics etc.); political machinations (including, but not limited to: war, closure of borders, etc.); terrorism or threats of terrorist activities; or acts of other third-parties (including, but not limited to accidents or the canceling of reservations by retreat centres, hotels, flights etc.) If a training course, workshop or retreat is cancelled for reasons indicated in this paragraph, or for any other reason beyond the control of AMS, then the you will be given a credit to attend a future event of a similar nature to the cancelled event, valid for a period of two years. No refunds will be issued for cancellations beyond the control of AMS.
Cancellations: Whether the cancellation of a training course, module, workshop or retreat is due to a request by you or initiated by AMS for any reason, in no event will AMS be responsible for personal expenses incurred in preparation for, or in relation to the cancelled event. Such personal expenses may include, but are not limited to: travel expenses; child care expenses; hotel expenses; any other expense incurred by you or paid to any third parties or loss of income. You acknowledge that any refund identified in these policies is solely for monies that have been paid directly to and received by AMS.
Changes to schedules: AMS will use all reasonable endeavour to meet the advertised schedule and itinerary, however we reserve the right to make any changes deemed necessary to events including cancellation.
Termination of Training: You understand that we have the right to terminate your training with immediate effect if you commit a breach of contract or for any reason deemed suitable by us. You will not receive a refund for that module and cancellation fees will apply. We will inform you as soon as possible.
Health: You agree that you have a sufficient standard of health, fitness and mental and emotional stability to partake in this training. You swear that you have and will remain honest, transparent & truthful regarding your health and will disclose any relevant information concerning your physical/emotional/mental health in the joining form, and continue to keep AMS informed of any changes to your health by email to info@academyofmodernshamansim.com  info@academy.com. This includes full details of all medication that you currently receive, full details of any psychiatric care that you receive or have ever received, full details of any medical conditions that may be aggravated due to physical activity, psychological stress or any of the activities with AMS. If in ANY doubt, please detail in full, for your own safety. Persons with health or psychiatric problems may find some activities physically and mentally challenging and unsuitable for them. We recommend that in case of doubt, please consult your doctor or mental health professional.
Responsibility: You understand that we shall be working deeply and recognise that it is a possibility that the training and healing exchanges may bring up issues or trigger processes that may be challenging or distressing. Whilst Sue Holmes and AMS facilitators will support participants on the training where possible and appropriate, you understand that this is neither a healing nor a therapy group and that you are ultimately responsible for your own process, well-being and integration of the experience.  You need to know your resources and how to self-care. We ask that participants attending any of our offerings do so strictly for educational reasons and not to seek healing of any kind.
Expectations: You understand that it is impossible to predict or expect specific results with shamanic practices, energy healing, space clearing, geomancy, sound healing holistic healing and complimentary therapies. You understand that if you have, or suspect you have a medical problem, you should see your doctor or professional health care provider about this. You understand that healing is not a substitute for medical treatment. Healing sessions during any training, workshops or events are not to be used in place of standard medical, nutritional or general health care or advice by a licensed health professional.
Safety: You understand that you are responsible for your own personal safety during the course of the training. You will not hold the organisers or leaders of this training nor any of the other participants responsible for any act that is or may be detrimental to your person or health in whatever way. 
Confidentiality & discretion: You understand that confidentially will be expected from all participants regarding all personal details & personal processes of others both during and after the training.
Photography & filming: You agree not to record, film or take photography of any teaching sessions without our express consent. You agree that we may use recorded content for teaching purposes only. If we wish to take photographs or film any part of the course or event for advertising purposes, you have the right to choose to be included or not and you can be edited out if necessary.
Sobriety: You will not consume, or attend under the influence of, any drugs or alcohol during the training modules.
Drugs & Medicines: You agree to declare all prescription drugs and inform me of any alternative health or plant medicines that you may be taking for the duration of the training, retreat or workshop. Consuming or distributing natural medicines, psychoactive plants or drugs during the modules, workshops or retreats is prohibited for your own safety.

Teachings: You understand that this is a practitioner training, not a teacher-training course. Teaching materials may not be copied or shared and you will not be qualified to teach following this training. You hereby agree not to publish or teach the material shared, unless permission had been given to you in advance by AMS in writing.
All Intellectual Property Rights in or arising out of or in connection with AMS shall be owned by us unless otherwise explicitly agreed in writing. Any materials handed out or added to the online teaching forum as written or video training are for your personal use only. You may not provide materials to any other individuals, including clients, partners or family members unless authorised by AMS through written permission.
Advertising: As a student or graduate of AMS you may not advertise or present yourself in any way that implies that you are a branch or authorised representative of AMS. As an accredited graduate, you will be able to be listed in our Alumni as a practitioner.
Non-violent communication: At all times you will use non-violent communication, and never use physical violence.
Punctuality & commitment: You agree to attend each module, arrive on time, stay in the space until we finish, and stay to the end of each module.
Sexual intimacy: For courses where you exchange healing sessions, unless you are already in a sexual relationship with another participant, you agree not to engage in any sexual intimacy with anyone during a module and up to 2 weeks after a module or healing exchange, for your own safety.
Insurance: It is your responsibility to practice healing in a legal and professional way. You agree to obtain insurance, including student insurance.
Integrity: You agree to work with integrity, ethics, responsibility, respect, confidentiality, permission, safety, honesty, compassion, appropriate communication & boundaries, within the law, within your capabilities & take care to avoid complaints/legal action.
Certification: You will receive a certificate of attendance. Fully accredited certification is dependent on your successful completion of all modules and case studies.

This agreement shall serve as a release and assumption of risk for you, your heirs, executors, administrators and assigns and all members of your family. By agreeing to this, you are allowed to participate in courses and events with The Modern Shaman Academy Ltd.
